About Us
Back in 1977 a group of people got together to organise Quedgeley’s celebrations for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. They enjoyed themselves so much that they decided to continue the task of arranging social events, sponsoring community groups and generally doing anything that would be of benefit to the people of Quedgeley. And so the Quedgeley Village Trust was born. It became Quedgeley Community Trust when it was felt that Quedgeley had outgrown the original “village” status, but its purpose in life remained the same.
Over the years, the Trust has run discos for the children, organised fireworks parties and barbecues.
The Trust’s main community event each year is the Quedgeley Show which is a friendly event which anyone can enter with various classes from vegetables and plants to flowers, arts and crafts and cakes and wines.
In October 2005 the Trust took over the management and running of Quedgeley Health and Fitness Club for the benefit of both the school and the local community.
In November 2011 we were very instrumental in partnering with Prospect Training Services to create the Q Club to ensure the continuation of the youth service in the area. We are currently working with other partners to develop a youth outreach project to help us better understand how young people in the area wish to get involved with local activities and clubs.
Membership of Quedgeley Community Trust is open to everyone in Quedgeley and the committee is happy to welcome anyone who is willing to work with us and shares our aims.
The surpluses of Quedgeley News allowed us to give grants to organisations and groups based in Quedgeley that provide a service to the residents of the Town of Quedgeley which includes Kingsway. Our constitution doesn’t allow us to help individuals or groups based outside of the Town of Quedgeley. If you think your group or organisation could benefit please complete the simple online form which will be brought before the next available committee meeting of the Trust for consideration.
We have good links with but are not part of the Town Council and are pleased to continue to work collaboratively with many local schools, groups and businesses.
If you wish to financially support the work of Quedgeley Community Trust then you may wish to do so without any deductions or costs via BT Donate.
